Happy Feet
Good 66 Points 2006

Funny, not too preachy, and of the pop culture moment.

Ratatouille
Good 97 Points 2007

Pixar fan though I am, this latest installment was a disappointment. While the story picked up steam towards the end, the movie delivered no laugh-out-loud moments and little insight into the human condition illustrated by the fantastical characters, the hallmarks of great Pixar movies.

WALL·E
Good 29 Points 2008

Cute Pixar movie. You definitely found yourself identifying with the Wall-E as a human like character, and the adventure with the female bot Eve on a quest to return humans to the planet was a fairly engaging story. Amazing animation and decent action, but my daughter and I found ourselves bored…

Despicable Me
Good 12 Points 2010

Such a cute damn movie. Could have been more – mostly in the humor department – but as it was, it was very entertaining with a great heart. Despicable Me centers around Gru – a supervillain who is being upstaged by a newcomer, so he sets out to complete the ultimate heist. He’s going to steal …

Jack the Giant ...
Good 17 Points 2013

A new twist on Jack serves as the vehicle to kick in the 3D action for the family. Unlike movies like ‘Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunders’, Jack stays a little truer to its fairly-tale roots, including a love story where the humble Jack goes for the seemingly out of reach princess. Within the c…

The Karate Kid
OK 23 Points 2010

Should you really re-make a classic like ‘Karate Kid’? Well, I suppose we can make an exception for Jackie Chan, despite the over promotion of Will Smith’s son Jaden. Still, I hate the idea that kids seeing this movie may never experience the original. Nothing terribly memorable, but a f…

Planet 51
Barely OK 67 Points 2009

A solid concept, turgidly executed make this an acceptable way to pass the time with kids at the movies. Barely. Good jokes are few and far between in this slow movie about a Buzz Lightyear-like astronaut who lands on a 1950s planet of green aliens.

Barely OK 66 Points 2013

More wimpy than wicked, Oz the Great and Powerful unleashes plenty of sound and fury, signifying nothing more than a reminder that real movie magic doesn’t come from FX. It comes from charm and wit. IOW, this huge production seeks to recreate the timeless magic of The Wizard of Oz….

Super Mario Bros.
Bad 9 Points 1993

By far the worst video game adaptation ever. Plus, this film officially begun the start of bad video game movies. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Super Mario Bros. is one of the funnest and most popular video games of all time. The story was simple: Two plumbers, enter world…

Pinocchio
Pretty Awful 9 Points 2002

Whew!! Where do I begin?!?! Well, for starters, it truly is sad to see such a talent like Roberto Begnini involved in such garbage like this. Even though this whole film is his own fault. Despite some good scenery and the fact that its the closest to the book of all the adaptations, the film suff…
