Planet of the Apes
Great 26 Points 1968

How could you not love this movie? Ok, so it doesnn’t blow anyone away with acting, production, etc. But the story-line itself, coupled with Heston’s campy drama makes this an all time family pleaser.

Planet Of The Apes
Good 9 Points 2001

Oh get over it, people. It wasn’t THAT bad! For the film experts who have been living under a rock, the original 1968 Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston is a brilliant science fiction masterpiece that has stood the test of time, spawning four mediocre sequels, a television series, spoofs, ri…

Open Water
Bad 6 Points 2003

A poor excuse for a thriller. Touted for it’s use of real sharks during filming, I’d have rather some poorly done CGI and more action. At least then it could be a cult classic or something of the sort. Altogether excessively boring…and the ending is poorly concieved.

Okja
Perfect 66 Points 2017

Okja [Oak-ja] grabs your heart and doesn’t let go. It’s a perfect movie from shoulder to shank, as pure an experience of cinematic magic as the best of Spielberg. But Spielberg it ain’t. Bong it is — Bong Joon Ho.

The brilliant Korean auteur made Okja in 2017, four years after "Snowpiercer…

Monkey Kingdom
Really Great 66 Points 2015

Monkey Kingdom is a joy of a documentary, easily beloved by young and old alike. More fun than a barrel of monkeys … er, sort of a barrel of monkeys come to life, it profiles lovable little Sri Lankan primates.

These little macacas swing from each others’ tails, for goodness sakes. Yet the…

Mongol

Megan Leavey
Very Good 83 Points 2017

This is a damn good Iraq War movie, apolitical and told through the eyes of Marines who walked through the sands of hell. Plus, it’s a great Marine Corps movie overall. So why did it flame out at the theaters?

Start with the bad title. Megan Leavey is easy to say once you hear it, but is kin…
