The definitive science fiction film and one that revolutionized the art that is film making, George Lucas' masterpiece Star Wars: A New Hope(once merely known as Star Wars) is a visually stunning epice that has broke numerous grounds in film, started a cult following, and has been referenced just about everywhere. Star Wars borrows from the old Flash Gordon serials of the 1950s. Like The Matrix and District 9, it is so original and yet its interesting to see what films it borrowed from or what concepts it takes. Its almost like a sci fi reimagining of Wizard of Oz We have one … |

Is there a better crime movie? Other classics such as Godfather 2 equal Goodfellas, but none top it. If you like the genre and are not easily dismayed, this is the ne plus ultra. |

America. My theory is that Forrest Gump serves as personification of the early baby boomers, i.e. of the America of that era. Naive, idealistic, rambunctious, Forrest's life functions as allegory for the cultural journey of the generation that came of age during the 60s. Whether you buy that or not, this wonderfully charming movie – by turns funny and moving – showcases a classic Tom Hanks performance from his mid-90s heyday as The Biggest Movie Star In The World. |

After long avoiding this movie, I was compelled to watch it by Massie's simple declaration of its perfection. He's right, this is a perfect movie, long yet packed with necessary detail, suspenseful even though the end is never in doubt, chock full of charismatic performances by three of our greatest stars and a bevy of memorable supporting players. |

A tremendously entertaining film. Not an epic by any stretch, but one of those films that almost impossible not to like. |

After the mega disaster of a certain cinematic abomination known as Batman and Robin, there were quite a few rumors going 'round 'bout a new Batman movie. There was talk of Joel Schumacher helming a fifth film known as Batman Triumphant. The plot was going to involve Scarecrow(played by Howard Stern), Harley Quinn(Madonna, of all people), and Man Bat(Willem Defoe) and they were going to resurect the Joker. In my opinion, that's one plot line too many. However, there was then talk of a prequel based on Frank Miller's Batman: Year One. And let me tell you, my friend, a prequel is what we got…. |

Pixar fan though I am, this latest installment was a disappointment. While the story picked up steam towards the end, the movie delivered no laugh-out-loud moments and little insight into the human condition illustrated by the fantastical characters, the hallmarks of great Pixar movies. |
