The greatest Western ever? Not in my judgment. Though a darn good movie, The Searchers is too phony to make a claim for all-time honors. While dated, it remains essential viewing for Western fans, full of jaw dropping scenery, intriguing interplay, and classic cowboys and Indians horse chases.

This epic TV miniseries follows ex Texas Rangers (Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones) as they steal horses in Mexico then get involved in a cattle drive to Montana in the 1880’s. A little Kitschy at times, but endearing to watch the pair banter back and forth and perform their manly cowboy roles. …

Eh well – I guess you could say this Movie 2.0 Mashup was entertaining for its novelty but looking at its components: western – not that great, sci-fi – not that great, you end up with something that didn’t use the combination to make the sum greater than its parts. That’s too bad, because it h… |

There isn’t a middle-aged man out there who couldn’t help but identify with Billy Crystal’s middle-aged crisis. Add in hilarious sarcasm and a crew of city-dwellers trying to be cowboys, and you’ve got a funny movie. I loved Jack Palance as the leathery old cowboy-boss. Unfortunately for me, the… |
