  1. Quality
  2. OK 2.5

A second sequel to 2000’s “Final Destination” that feels so thoroughly empty for all it’s wackiness and fun, the silly “Final Destination 3” is a mixed bag of a horror to say the least. I guess the crucial thing is that, at the end of the day, this so-called horror movie isn’t scary whatsoever. The knowledge of the characters’ impending deaths (ironic and grisly ones) is handled with much gimmick, little nuance and zero scariness. Even Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman can’t help the film recover from it’s flaws.

  3. Good 3.0

The lead performances from Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman are very good, each becoming their characters and admittedly encouraging the viewer to root for them. Elsewhere, the supporting players fail to make much of an impression.

  4. Male Stars Great 4.0
  5. Female Stars Great 4.0
  6. Female Costars Barely OK 2.0
  7. Male Costars Barely OK 2.0
  8. Good 3.0

Directed by James Wong with an eye on his visuals, “Final Destination 3” is flawed in other departments of film production. The dialogue is generally flat, usually used to poorly point out what directions the story will go in. The music score is good without being great and the visuals, pretty though they are, fail to deliver upon their promise.

  9. Direction Great 4.0
  10. Play OK 2.5
  11. Music Very Good 3.5
  12. Visuals Good 3.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.3

Little sex, some rudeness, plenty of violence.

  15. Sex Innocent 1.4
  16. Violence Brutal 3.5
  17. Rudeness Salty 2.0
  18. Supernatural 3.2

The whole concept behind the “Final Destination” series is purely fantasy, wherein the characters try (and tend to fail) to escape their fates following an avoidance of their death previously. There it is left for the characters to at least be believable, which “Final Destination 3” manages to a point.

  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 3.8
  20. Biological Supernatural 3.9
  21. Physical Glib 1.9
