Really Great 4.5
Tim Burton does an excellent job, as usual. His interpretation of the musical lives up to his typical dark, and twisted films. The cinematography was also outstanding, showing camera angles zipping up and down the alleyways of London. The gore was almost blatantly unrealistic, but interestingly complimented the haunting overall tone of the film. Typically, I don’t enjoy musicals, but TODD incorporated the music tastefully and successfully.

Male Stars Really Great 4.5
Depp was phenomenal, a perfect fit for the role of the demon barber. Sascha Baron Cohen’s role as a rival barber provided comic relief.
-
Female Stars Really Great 4.5
Helena Bonham Carter was the right choice. You may remember her from FIGHT CLUB as Marla Singer. Her signature role is that of a sinister and mysterious individual, and she continues her pattern in TODD.

Brutally violent scenes of jugular mutilation, yet the gory violence is necessary because it is, after all, a film about a murderous barber.
