   Good 3.0

   Black Snake Moan is a blues ballad of the south that i would image happens all the time. Sam L. Jackson takes you to a land of heathens and “sick” people you want to visit. good flick. check it out

4. Acting

   Good 3.0

   the range of performances in this movie are far and wide. right down to the part played by Christina Ricci as a easy drug addicted nymphomaniac. Sam Jackson doesn’t surprise with his typical “bad ass” character he plays in this.

5. Male Stars Very Good 3.5

   Sammy L Jackson plays the savior Lazarus in this story and like i mentioned above he is just a bad ass. he fits this part well and he seems to put the soul back in the blues as some would say.

6. Female Stars Very Good 3.5

   Christina Ricci really surprised me in this movie. i was expecting her to be ok at best with her acting but she did a decent job. yeah she could have probably done better and they probably could have found a better girl to play the part but she seemed to be really comfortable in the slut of the south gig so why take that from her :P

7. Female Costars OK 2.5

   this movie had a good range of costars in it. nothing special about there characters popped out to me and this goes the same for the male costars

8. Male Costars OK 2.5

   it seemed to me everything else was a filler in this movie. it revolved around Sam J and Christina R and thats the way it should have been. screw everyone else i say. if you like this movie you know what I’m talking about.

    Good 3.0

    seemed like a good enough set up for the movie. i liked the locations, stars, music, and editing. they really seemed to click in all the right spots to make a seamless style for this film even down to the flash backs of the “bad times” for Christina Ricci’s character.

11. Direction Very Good 3.5

    I’m not familiar with the director of this movie and it seems like good grounds to try out another flick. he did a good job with this one and i wouldn’t be surprised if he has a passion for music as the blues in this were pretty sweet

12. Play Barely OK 2.0

    im not a fan of southern talk and this movie was full of it. i refuse to belevie that even to this day people talk like there from the 1950’s even in a place were their from.

13. Music Great 4.0

    the blues in this film were awesome. even down to good ol’ Sammy Jacksons performance in the bar scene. i wonder if he ever thought about getting into the music biz, if he hasn’t tried already.

14. Visuals Good 3.0

    nothing to much that stood out id say it was fine but this wasn’t a film revolving around the glimmer of being a hillbilly (lol) when they did have the flash backs and other “attacks” mentally on various characters though they seemed to make them pop just at the right times.

    id say this one is up there for some Sam Jackson movies. allot of Christina Ricci nudity. i wasn’t counting but you had to see her naked quite a few times. not to mention it was “implied” not really show that she had sex with at least 4 guys during the events of the film.

    some of the Ricci sex scenes were more then your average scene from a movie. id say this is one of those films she is not going to show her kids someday.

    I love the just on the meter from gentle to fierce. i wouldnt say the violence in this was crazy but they kept you on your toes a bit. any day you see a girl get the crap kicked out of her its a fierce event i guess.

    if i could choose one person on this planet to listen to swear allot if would have to be Samuel l. Jackson. he is just a bad ass. especially when he just goes of on a profane rant in the middle of a blues song.

    oh i could see this happening in the south, i mean come on this is something that happens twice a day in some towns i imagine down there. lol

    the circumstances shown in this film i would say is a nice outlook. id image if they wanted to make this a little more realistic they could have. not everything in like ends with a happy ending.
