  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

There has not been a western of this caliber in 40 years. 3:10 To Yuma is going to go down as the movie that brought back the western, why? they put the heart back in it. because of this movie i want to see more westerns out their that are edgey and entertaining just as they are heart felt.

  3. Really Great 4.5

The acting in this movie is superb. you get casting at its best and a story thats to die for. you feel the pain of these actors as their characters grow to know each other in the film. even the roles of the poor saps that get gunned down as the story progresses are well played.

  4. Male Stars Perfect 5.0

Christian Bale doesn’t disappoint in this role, he seems to find a way to play any part he gets his hands on. you can really see the character he portrays in his eyes. this is an actor that cares about what he does. Russell Crowe is quite the surprise in this movie. he always does a good job when it comes to playing the hero but as the anti-hero? he is Wonderful. I can’t express myself more saying this. the bale/Crowe combo is a knockout of an acting team.

  5. Female Stars Really Great 4.5

female star? in a western? forgetdaboutit! (yes that is a real word) the female presence in this movie is support at its best, why? because this is a movie about man trying to earn his once lost dignity back. see the female costar panel for actual info ha!

  6. Female Costars Really Great 4.5

Gretchen Mol did a stand up job playing the wife of Dan Evens. I don’t really have much more to say on this. there really wasn’t a female presence in this movie long enough to make any kind of impression. it’s great to see a film out there that doesn’t shove tits in your face to get a few extra bucks.

  7. Male Costars Really Great 4.5

Logan Lerman was a good addition to the cast to play the role of WIlliam Evens. the son of the broke down rancher who lost his dignity along with part of his leg in the civil war. this kid is going to go places. the one role I can acually say i remebr a proformace from him is in The Butterfly Effect. he played 7 year old Evan Treborn and he did a good job at that. im hoping to see this kid in some more serious roles.

  8. Very Good 3.5

I could sit here and tell you that this was the perfect western, I’m not going to do that. I rarely watch westerns for one reason. i never had an interest in them. that all changed with this film though. everything here deserves a pat on the back down to the locations of the movie.

  9. Direction Very Good 3.5

I can only call myself a fan of one other movie James Mangold directed. that would be Walk The Line. it seems to me James Mangold knows what he is doing, and he is doing it well. I’m not going to go as far as saying he is a film making genius but if he pumps out a few more good movies like this and NOT like his wonderful FLOP Kate & Leopold then we can talk again

  10. Play Very Good 3.5

everything about this western is a witty gritty flop in the dirt especially the dialog. its not some cheesy " well’ howdy pat’na " they took the dialog very serious and i applaud the continuity of it throughout the whole film. Cheers!

  11. Music Very Good 3.5

aside from allot of scoring going on (not surprised with a film of this budget) the sound of the film is great down to the shots sitting by the camp fire. not to mention a classic western “feel Good” sound right as they role the credits.

  12. Visuals Very Good 3.5

they could have done a little more on the visuals in this film then they did. I felt some scenes could have been played out a little better with a little more for us to see. yes this movie wasn’t really about the visuals and to much could have made it an “American Outlaw” god forbid. i just feel we could have had a little more action in some of the scenes that we were on the edge of our seats.

  13. Content
  14. Risqué 1.9
  15. Sex Innocent 1.2

you could slap a big ol’ Kodak moments sticker on this one. they left out all the stuff you ruff necks wanna see. did it hurt the film? heck no! i think a pair of big ones strutting about could only hurt a film of this caliber

  16. Violence Fierce 2.1

the deaths in this are your pretty standard western shootouts with a side of a fork to the neck when your asleep. that pushed this one up to a powerful 2.1 (haha)

  17. Rudeness Salty 2.3

this is a salty dog at best. despite it being a western they seems to focus on the honor of the west rather then the blazing saddles of it.

  18. Glib 1.4

I can’t help but feel a story like this most likely happened some time in our past. i mean you look at this film and your in this story. your not is some fantasy world this is our heritage!

  19. Circumstantial Surreal 2.1
  20. Biological Natural 1.0
  21. Physical Natural 1.0
