Very Good 3.5
Hugh Jackman may not have knocked it out of the park with Wolverine, but it was a solid triple. In Marvel’s latest blockbuster, we focus almost purely on the clawed super-hero. We re-familiarize ourselves with his loner persona, tormented by his gift of self healing and past drama. As you would expect, the action is up to par with today’s expectations; This time taking on an asian ninja-Samurai meets Mr. Evil flavor. This, along with two very cute asian feisty women, and you should be satisfied. However, if you are more the type to get critical of the storyline, you’ll find a bunch of it doesn’t hold together well. And worse, if you aren’t familiar with the Wolverine story, you’ll find some of the Jean Gray dreams a bit disorienting and may be disappointed in the inward-focused film. The bottom line is that you should add this to your summer viewing list, and you’ll have lots of fun watching.

Good 3.0
Hugh Jackman keeps up the pace and delivers. Newcomers Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima are cute, do the asian fight scenes quite well, and are fun to watch. Hiroyuki Sanada makes a fine sort-of bad guy, and Svetlana Khodchenkova is sleek and sexy bad-mutant. Famke Janssen is also a visually pleasing addition as the deceased Jean Gray.
