  1. Quality
  2. Good 3.0

A young and energetic producer is tasked with bringing a morning television show back in the movie Morning Glory. Becky (Rachel McAdams), must turn the dismal ratings of her morning show, and bring self-centered anchors Mike (Harrison Ford) and Colleen (Diane Keaton) together.

Admittedly geared towards the female audience, the movie none-the-less does provide some good comedic moments, and is generally a good film. The stress and pressure of producing a daytime show is captured, and the cut-throat business environment is in full view. Becky provides a beacon of stability amidst a sea of turmoil, most of which is caused by the veteran news announcer Mike, who has now been begrudgingly brought to the show to spike viewership. His caustic and dry sense of self-worth is a wonderful balance to the energy of Becky, and the wit of Colleen.

A good film that can be enjoyed by both genders.

  3. Good 3.0
  4. Male Stars Great 4.0

Harrison Ford stole the show for me as the bitter retired news anchor. A fresh role for him, he brought a great presence to the film.

  5. Female Stars Good 3.0

McAdams does well as the perky and energetic producer.

Keaton still can command a screen, and is delightful in her role as the burnt-out host

  6. Female Costars OK 2.5
  7. Male Costars OK 2.5

Jeff Goldblum plays the critical and unyielding boss. A different role for him, but he does it adequately.

Patrick Wilson plays the love interest. Ok job, but nothing remarkable.

  8. OK 2.5
  9. Direction Good 3.0

The film does capture the intensity of the morning talkshow. The lead actors do a decent job of coexisting without stepping on each other.

  10. Play OK 2.5

Formulaic, but the film works because of its comedic banter between Ford and others.

  11. Music OK 2.5
  12. Visuals OK 2.5
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 1.7
  15. Sex Innocent 1.5

Some underwear scenes, but no real nudity. There also is discussion about sexually related topics for the show.

  16. Violence Fierce 1.6
  17. Rudeness Salty 2.0
  18. Natural 1.0
  19. Circumstantial Natural 1.0
  20. Biological Natural 1.0
  21. Physical Natural 1.0
