Another multi-dimension picture with Matt Damon running from somebody. This time he’s running from a group of controlling men known as The Adjustment Bureau whose purpose is to keep us on on the right path. I guess only men are capable of doing this task, as there are apparently no women working in the Adjustment Bureau. Directed by screenwriter George Nolfi, this movie was ok, but failed to captivate me as well as Inception did.

Damon plays David Norris, a young candidate for senate who falls Elise (Emily Blunt) , a beautiful ballerina. This is not part of his destiny, and the adjustment bureau works hard to change the course of David’s life, inspite of his desire to be with Elise. David must figure out how to evade the Bureau and win Elise.

The movie toys with the notion of destiny and what choices we can make in life. The characters chasing Damon seem odd, dressing like old Dragnet TV shows, and utilizing a complex system of doors that magically transport them around New York. We are led to believe that are not of this earth, and posses superpowers and the ability to track destiny and predict movement, altough they aren’t smart enough to catch Damon.

While the concept of the movie seems good, and the first few scenes are intriguing, it sadly began to be increasingly difficult to believe. My experience has been with most horror, supernatural, and mystery films, that the less you know sometimes, the more believable it is. In this film, we’re expected to beieve that Damon is the only one in quite a long time who is smart enough to evade these adjustment dudes. I’m sorry, but I had a hard time with that.

Ok movie, but you could probably wait for it to come out on video and not miss too much.

  3. OK 2.5
  4. Male Stars OK 2.5

Damon seems to always be running from someone in his films. This one is no different.

  5. Female Stars OK 2.5

Emily Blunt is adequate in her role, but not really spectacular.

  6. Female Costars Barely OK 2.0
  7. Male Costars Barely OK 2.0
  8. OK 2.5
  9. Direction OK 2.5

Ok direction, but where does he want to go with this?

  10. Play OK 2.5
  11. Music OK 2.5
  12. Visuals OK 2.5

Jumping from one location to another was neat, but we’ve seen it before ( think Monsters, Inc.)

Regarding Wick’s Review
I was apparently in a very kind and charitable mood when I wrote my review….
