Good 3.0
An interesting movie about two young men who are selected to go on a terrorist suicide bombing mission into Israel, only to have second thoughts after spending the last night with family and friends. The emotional tension that built as the two prepared for the terrorist act was palpable, especially as the two debate and wonder if their deaths would really create change, or if more peaceful methods of protest would be more effective. The omnipresent pressure to complete the mission to please the terrorist leaders continues to steer the two forward.
This was in many ways a difficult movie to watch, knowing that many have chosen to act out like this. Obviously, I detest terrorists, as do most people I know. However, the film does offer a glimpse of the desperation that surrounds so many of these acts. The willingness to commit these atrocities in the name of becoming a hero, all the while struggling to decide if this action is going to make a difference.
And we see how impressionable young people can be, especially after they are goaded into service and trained by older leaders, who plan these “missions”, but aren’t willing to put themselves into any harm’s way.
Watched on demand via Netflix.

The two lead actors do a commendable job of conveying the complicated emotions that must exist.

OK 2.5
Although not an extravagant production piece, it makes the necessary tension escalate. Filmed on location, it gives a very realistic feel for the culture and people.
The film is almost entirely in Arabic, which can detract from the story for those viewers who do not speak the language (like myself).
