  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

One of my favorite films of all times. I believe there is a little bit of Forrest Gump in each of us. Almost all want to do well in our endeavors, to be free of ridicule, to help one another and to experience the world.

For me, the beauty of this film is the raw honesty that Forrest brings to every relationship, even those who he disapproves of. His simple vision of the world creates both prejudicial treatment against him, and opens doors for him. His willingness to help others and befriend those who are willing to befriend him, create a genuine caring persona that we can all appreciate.

While the insertion of him into historical events was purely fictional, it serves as a wonderful mechanism for “what if’s…” Can one person change the course of history as he does? Could any one of us set in motion events that could become part of our culture? In my opinion, thats one of the things that makes our country so great. That each of us has that opportunity to make a difference in each other’s lives, even if it’s just being a leader by following Momma’s rules.

  3. Perfect 5.0

An outstanding job by Tom Hanks is mirrored by equally strong suppporting roles by Sally Fields, and Robin Wright, and Gary Sinise.

  4. Male Stars Perfect 5.0
  5. Female Stars Perfect 5.0
  6. Female Costars Perfect 5.0
  7. Male Costars Perfect 5.0
  8. Really Great 4.5

    Powerful.

  9. Direction Really Great 4.5

Brilliant direction gives the film its conitnuity and places the viewer into each of the situations that Forrest enounters.

  10. Play Really Great 4.5
  11. Music Perfect 5.0

    The soundtrack is a joy.

  12. Visuals Really Great 4.5
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.1
  15. Sex Titillating 2.5

Some partial nudity, along with some situations, including his “Momma being concerned about his education”.

  16. Violence Fierce 2.1

    Wartime graphics, and bullying.

  17. Rudeness Salty 1.7

Some salty language, along with Gump being picked on.

  18. Glib 1.7
  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 3.1

Alothough its very entertaining, it could be hard to picture one person instrumental in so many monumental social events.

  20. Biological Natural 1.0
  21. Physical Natural 1.0

Regarding Randy’s Review
Wow… it has been four years hasn’t it! Such a long time! I reviewed it briefly back then, but I wanted to go back and update the sliders as well as provide additional, more detailed commentary. It’s such a great movie, and my all-time favorite, that I felt like I owed it to myself to write a good review on it.

Regarding Randy’s Review
Tremendously well done appreciation of a worthy classic, Randy. I’d kinda forgotten how Forrest told his story in narrated flashbacks to strangers, then Zemeckis wove that into real time near the end. Deft.

I’d also forgotten how long the movie is. I love outstanding movies that are really long. More of a great thing is always a great thing.

Regarding Randy’s Review
‘bout time you put up your review Randy, a full four years since originally commenting. The wait was worth it however. Give me a day to digest it and I’ll be back.
