OK 2.5
This post apocalyptic tale opens with high drama, but ends up dark, moody, and overly slow. Too bad, because the story has merit, survival of the good guys under threat of cannibalizm. One never had much of a chance to get to know any of the characters – good guys or bad guys, and many of the scenes were inexplicable – at least to me. The ending makes sense and is pleasant – but you really had to work hard to stay with it getting there.

Good 3.0
A total mis-use of Robert Duval and Charleze Theron’s time – although both were great. Viggo Mortensen does well as the stoic silent type, but that shtick got old.

OK 2.5
To add to my sour summary, there was a serious over use of grey tones, and a soundtrack that was ultimately sleep inducing.

Nope, don’t think I’m gonna see Lovely Bones. However, that means you’ll have a clear shot to declare the WikPik take on it… High on my In Theater list now is Up In The Air, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Brothers. Saw Invictus last night. Should have my review up by tomorrow. |
