  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

“Inception” is the new Matrix. There were literally parts of this movie when my jaw was hanging open and I couldn’t believe what was happening on screen. The concept is brilliant, the acting far surpasses “The Matrix,” and the effects are awe-inspiring! Also, if you didn’t see this movie on an IMAX screen, you didn’t actually SEE it — sorry. It would be WELL worth the $15 to go see the movie again, just to experience it on a huge screen with an intense sound system.

  3. Really Great 4.5

If it weren’t for Ellen Page, this movie would have scored a solid 5 on Acting from me. It’s not that she’s a bad actress, but she didn’t add anything to the movie, and didn’t really make her character anyone memorable. The rest of the cast, however, is superb.

  4. Male Stars Really Great 4.5
  5. Female Stars Really Great 4.5
  6. Female Costars Really Great 4.5
  7. Male Costars Really Great 4.5
  8. Perfect 5.0

I loved every aspect of this movie — it was intricate, intriguing, intense, immense, impossibly interesting, impressive, irresistible, intoxicating … In fact, there was only one little part of the entire 2.5 hour movie that made me go “Well, that couldn’t actually happen” but I certainly was able to move past it pretty easily.

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0
  10. Play Really Great 4.5
  11. Music Perfect 5.0
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.2
  15. Sex Innocent 1.0
  16. Violence Brutal 3.5
  17. Rudeness Salty 2.0
  18. Fantasy 5.0

And here’s where it gets tricky. Same as with “The Matrix,” who’s to say whether the movie depicts an impossible situation or is just illuminating a hidden reality … dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  19. Circumstantial Fantasy 5.0
  20. Biological Fantasy 5.0
  21. Physical Fantasy 5.0

Great review Wizzle. Love the "I"s: “intricate, intriguing, intense, immense, impossibly interesting, impressive, irresistible, intoxicating”, indeed!

I saw it on an old school big screen (the Winchester 22 dome), so may have to seek out an IMAX for the de rigueur second viewing.

Hey, as a musician, you’ll get a special kick out of this Inception Music Comparison video. Yet another intriguing intricacy.

I didn’t have much to add to what you guys and everyone else is saying about Inception. I came in a little under your ratings, but am no less enthusiastic about Nolan’s new masterpiece!
