  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

This movie is nothing short of genius. Mary and Max is a story of two unlikely friends- one small girl with no friends, and one old man with Aspergers- writing to each other throughout the years. The movie has about 4 lines of dialogue, as the entire thing is narrated by someone telling you the character’s thoughts, their emotions and their actions. The rest of the movie is narrated by the reading of their letters.
Mary lives in a brights and vivid Australia, while Max lives in a black-and-white New York. The movie starts off in the 70’s but then you watch Mary grow up, and eventually, the movie ends with an extremely sad ending that made me tear up. The entire movie is incredibly interesting and surprisingly FUNNY. Please- I implore you to see this movie now.

  3. Perfect 5.0

The famous ones here are Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Toni Collette. Both of them are outstanding voice actors, as we learn from this movie. The narrator’s voice is absolutely perfect, as is everyone else in the movie.

  4. Male Stars Perfect 5.0
  5. Female Stars Perfect 5.0
  6. Female Costars Perfect 5.0
  7. Male Costars Perfect 5.0
  8. Perfect 5.0

The claymation is obviously the first thing you’ll notice. It’s absolutely beautiful. It’s not Coraline animations, but rather more lumpy. I couldn’t get over how amazing it looked. Also the music is outstanding. It always set the mood PERFECLY. And the “dialogue” is phenomenal. The letters are so detailed and so smart that you wonder what genius could’ve written them. A perfect score for a perfect movie.

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0
  10. Play Perfect 5.0
  11. Music Perfect 5.0
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0
  13. Content
  14. Tame 1.5

Some cartoon nudity, but nothing too bad. Also, there is an extremely haunting scene where someone puts a noose around their neck and has pills in their hands.

  15. Sex Innocent 1.5
  16. Violence Fierce 2.0
  17. Rudeness Polite 1.0
  18. Natural 1.0

This is supposedly based on a true story… I trust them

  19. Circumstantial Natural 1.0
  20. Biological Natural 1.0
  21. Physical Natural 1.0

No worries. If we all liked the same movies, there would be no need for movie crticism. I appreciate your honesty.
