Demona's Review

  1. Quality
  2. Really Great 4.5

Imagine waking up one morning and finding out that you’re a Demi-God; but not just ANY Demi-God, but the child of one of the more superior three Gods in Greek Mythology? Well that’s what happened to Percy Jackson. He is a high school kid that, while on a trip to the museum, finds out that he is the son of the Greek God Poseidon. After being said to have stolen one of the most important powerful weapons in all of Olympus, he is then chased throughout the country by minions and Gods alike, trying to discover who truly stole Zeus’ lightening bolt. While going to the camp for “Demi-Gods-in-training”, his mother is abducted by one of Hades’ minions, the minotaur. Percy and his friends then venture out to find a way to get his mother back from the underworld, and prove to Zeus that he did not steal the bolt. Well, needless to say, it was pretty cool to run into some of the more famous “monsters” in Greek Mythology: Medusa, The Minotaur, Hydra, amongst a few others. This film is great for people of all ages and ranks, that is, if you’re into Greek Mythology and any form of fantasy.

  3. Very Good 3.5

The main characters in the film are kids that are just developing themselves in the profession. Though they are not well known, they made their mark in this film. Logan Lerman, if you hadn’t noticed, actually started out in films such as “The Butterfly Effect” and “The Number 23”, so for him to have gained a role that actually showed his potential was a good chance of pace for him. Alexandra Daddario played Annabeth, the daughter to the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena. She played a brilliant fighter and strategist, which would make Athena proud. Rosario Dawson, Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean, Uma Thurman, and many others, make an appearance in the film, for such actors to have have pretty short parts, but make an impression was pretty impressive to me.

  4. Male Stars Very Good 3.5
  5. Female Stars Very Good 3.5
  6. Female Costars Very Good 3.5
  7. Male Costars Very Good 3.5
  8. Great 4.0

The graphics were amazing! Of course you can can tell that’s it’s not real, but you couldn’t help but get sucked into the story and the lives of the individuals in the film. My absolute favorites would have to be Hades and Hydra, the graphics were really really good. The fight scenes were pretty awesome, I’m not going to give anything away, but seeing Percy making use of his powers were pretty awesome, if you ask me.

  9. Direction Great 4.0
  10. Play Great 4.0
  11. Music Great 4.0
  12. Visuals Great 4.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 1.8

No one hooks up, people, it is a family movie. But I was kind of hoping for a little bit of romance, of course that’s coming from a chick, sorry guys. I thought that the film had a lot of elements that families would enjoy. Nothing too over the top, but definitely something to look forward to.

  15. Sex Innocent 1.0
  16. Violence Fierce 2.4
  17. Rudeness Salty 1.9
  18. Fantasy 5.0

Harpies, Hades, Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, demi-gods, Medusa, Hydra, so much in greek mythology, this film makes me want to look things up and see what is actually written. I think I’m going to check out some books, but that just me, check out the flick and bring your kids, nieces, nephews, even cousins.. they’ll enjoy the fantasy!

  19. Circumstantial Fantasy 5.0
  20. Biological Fantasy 5.0
  21. Physical Fantasy 5.0

Regarding Demona’s Review
Helpful review Demona. Sounds like the family friendly fun fantasy flik I was hoping it would be.

Didn’t know Uma was in it till now. Love her, even when she makes disappointing fliks like My Super Ex-Girlfriend, which I just happened to catch.

Regarding your Reality commentary: No need to check out any books when we’ve got Wikipedia. The entry on Zeus says “He is known for his erotic escapades. These resulted in many godly and heroic offspring, including Athena, Apollo and Artemis, Hermes, Persephone (by Demeter), Dionysus, Perseus, Heracles, Helen, Minos.”

Talk about getting busy.
