  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

Before walking into this movie, I had very little experience with “Star Trek”. Since as far back as I can remember, I was always anti-“Star Trek”. “F*** Star Trek!!! Star Wars FTW!!!” I would always say. The only real thing I knew about anything “Star Trek” related were a couple of charater names and one or two cheesey catch phrases. So, I went to see this movie with very mild expectations. As soon as the movie opened, I was hooked. This was one of the funnest movies I’ve ever seen and one of the best summer blockbusters of all time! I know that may be pushin’ it, but WOW!!! This movie blew me away!!

The story is one that I cannot explain without giving spoilers, but I’m gonna try. The story begins with the death of James Kirk’s father by a Romulan named Nero. This one event event completely changes the future. This way, James grows up to be an unlikable smart ass and Spock is now his rival. However, Kirk soon meets up with the Spock of the future who explains that he must change the future. The way this film was written was very clever. It completely starts a new beginning to a franchise that many believed to be dead.

“Star Trek” is fun fare for all and one of the best films of 2009. Doing for summer movie goers what “The Dark Knight” and “Iron Man” did in 2008, “Star Trek” is movie that makes everyone leave satisfied.

  3. Really Great 4.5

When casting actors in roles that have been done before, they better not fail. Well, the casting in “Star Trek” is one of the movie’s greatest elements. The actors fit the uniforms nicely and all do an excellent job.

  4. Male Stars Really Great 4.5

The typically bland Chris Pine makes an excellent Kirk. He’s slick, smooth, and defines the term smart aleck.

As for Zachary Quinto as Spock, he fits the eyebrows and the ears nicely and plays a powerful and brooding Spock.

  5. Female Stars Great 4.0

Zoe Saldana plays Uhurha similar to her character in “Avatar”. She’s a smart girl who knows what shes doing and knows what she wants.

  6. Female Costars Great 4.0
  7. Male Costars Perfect 5.0

The rest of the cast is excellent. My favorite actors in the entire film were Simon Pegg as Scotty and Karl Urban as Bones. They were both hilarious and at no point resorted to imitation.

  8. Perfect 5.0
  9. Direction Perfect 5.0
  10. Play Perfect 5.0
  11. Music Perfect 5.0
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.2

Not too naughty for the children’s ears. However, I think its much better if the set under 7 don’t watch this one : )

  15. Sex Titillating 1.7
  16. Violence Fierce 2.5
  17. Rudeness Salty 2.5
  18. Fantasy 4.1
  19. Circumstantial Fantasy 4.1
  20. Biological Fantasy 4.1
  21. Physical Fantasy 4.1

I’d guess I’d call myself a newbie. I would always say that anti-Star Trek stuff back when I was about 9 or 10, when I didn’t really understand Star Trek. Now that I’ve grown up, I’ve learned an old life lesson: Don’t judge something before you get to know it.

Regarding MetalJunky5000’s Review
Great review MJ. As a Star Trek kid, it’s fun to see an appreciation from a, a, well how would you characterize yourself? Star Trek newbie or former hater? Either way, fresh eyes yield fresh insights.

Regarding Wick’s Review
OK, not my best review, but there was a lot going on.

Anyone disagree that “Terminator Salvation” will be to “Star Trek” this year the way “Dark Knight” was to “Iron Man” last year? Serious to cheeky.
