  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

Yeah, yeah, yeeaahh!! Bash this movie all you want!! Bash it for its cheesey goodness and its popcorn movie fun, but this is a childhood favorite of mine. I have so many good memories with this film. This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Even though another comic book film called “X-Men” came out a couple years earlier, this is the film that TRUELY started the new wave of super hero films in the 21st century. After years and years out of the public eye, Evil Dead helmer Sam Raimi made a return to movies. He brought one of the greatest super heros to the silver screen.

The film begins as we see the origin of Spiderman as geeky teenager Peter Parker evolves into a web slining super hero known as Spiderman. He spends his nights fighting crime and begins to catch the attention of the public eye, beautiful Mary Jane Watson, and mad scientist Dr. Norman Osbourne. Soon, Spiderman learns that “with great power comes great responsibility.”

With great visuals, action, and a feeling of super hero nostalgia, Spiderman picks you up and swings you right into the action as you go on the wild ride you’ve been waiting for!

  3. Great 4.0

With comic book movies, the casting is always the tricky part. Sometimes it all works out(Hugh Jackman as Wolverine), or it completely misfires(Ben Affleck as Daredevil). In this case, it all works out! .

  4. Male Stars Really Great 4.5

Tobey Maguire fits the tights of everyone’s favorite neighborhood web slinger and has the charm of a masked hero and yet also captures the flawed personality of Peter Parker very nicely! Heck, for all I know, he IS Spiderman.

I also enjoyed the ever so creepy Willem Dafoe as Norman Osbourne/Green Goblin. He fits the villain role even better than Maguire fits the hero.

  5. Female Stars OK 2.5

I’m honestly not a very big fan of Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. I never thought she was very likable in the role and was always very bland. However, she had her moments every now and then.

  6. Female Costars Really Great 4.5
  7. Male Costars Really Great 4.5

James Franco is a very talented actor. However, he surprisingly doesn’t have a lot to do in this film. I’m glad he got more screen time in the future films.

  8. Perfect 5.0

This was one hell of an impressive movie!!

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0

The cinematography and camerawork is amazing!! I love the edge Raimi gave to the story and the characters. Mixing in a little cheesy humor and yet still maintaining a very reallistic and action packed edge.

  10. Play Really Great 4.5

The dialogue is pretty cheesy at moments, but what do you expect? Its Sam Raimi. This is the go to guy for B-movie dialogue.

  11. Music Perfect 5.0

The score is by Danny Elfman, who also made another familiar super hero soundtrack***cough cough***Tim Burton’s Batman***cough cough***

  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0

The visuals are incredible!! When Spidey swings through the air, it looks liek a real person!

  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.2

There’s a certain upside down kissing scene in the rain where Mary Jane’s uuuuhhhh…..I’d best not continue. There’s also quite a bit of blood. However, I think the kids’ll definately have a good time.

  15. Sex Titillating 2.5
  16. Violence Fierce 2.2
  17. Rudeness Salty 1.8
  18. Supernatural 4.0
  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 4.0
  20. Biological Supernatural 4.0
  21. Physical Supernatural 4.0

Wick

I wasn’t looking for a foreign version per se, but was looking for one that had better visual appeal. The other one had Spidey on orange windows, which didn’t contrast well with his red suit, IMO. On this one, the windows are blue.

In any case, if you find a better poster image, I’m happy to replace this one.

That said, this version is from Russia, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

Thnx, Wick. Just one question, why’d you change the poster to the foreign version?
