  1. Quality
  2. Really Great 4.5

Classic story of when boy meets girl, then loses her, then finds her, all while trying to stop an evil vizier and being aided by a hilarious Genie. Aladdin is one of the best films of the Disney renaissance! And while it doesn’t have the same emotional draw of such classics as Lion King(my personal favorite) and Beauty and the Beast or even the same heart as some of the more underrated like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, it is still an excellent and well animated film filled with memorable songs and hysterical jokes that capitallize on Robin William’s hilarious style of comedy.

In this adaptation of the famous Arabian Nights tale, Aladdin is a poor boy from the streets along with his trusted pet monkey, Abu. Jasmine is a rich princess who is destined to be married to a smug prince by order of her father, the Sultan. After the two meet one day, they are soon separated. However, Aladdin’s luck begins to change as he discovers a magic flying carpet with a personality of its own and a lamp that holds a powerful genie. But soon Jafar, the evil sorceror and royal vizier, learns of Aladdin’s power and will stop at nothing to steal the lamp and gain power.

While the storyline isn’t as rich or powerful as some other Disney films, the kids will get a kick out of the songs and parents will enjoy the numerous celebrity impersonations. Aladdin is a excellent film that should be enjoyed by the whole family.

  3. Great 4.0

The acting is very good. While Aladdin and Jasmine aren’t the most exciting or interesting leads(in fact, they’re very dull),that is made up for by the excellent supporting cast. Robin Williams gives the performance of his career as the magical and hysterical Genie. He does numerous impersonations and hilarious one liners that’ll leave you in stiches. Gilbert Gottfried is also a riot as Jafar’s obnoxious parrot sidekick Iago.

  4. Male Stars Great 4.0
  5. Female Stars Great 4.0
  6. Female Costars Great 4.0
  7. Male Costars Really Great 4.5
  8. Really Great 4.5

The animation is beautiful!! It combines traditional 2D techniques with some 3D esque techniques that were very new at the time. The songs are unforgettable!

  9. Direction Really Great 4.5
  10. Play Perfect 5.0
  11. Music Really Great 4.5
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0

  16. Violence Fierce 2.1
  17. Rudeness Polite 1.5
  18. Fantasy 5.0

Regarding MetalJunky5000’s Review
“Robin Williams gives the performance of his career.” Agreed. And yet he only gets four beams? If you don’t want to overpraise whoever played Aladdin, consider Robin as Male Costar and drag that slider up to five. Yes?
