The Stoned Horror Critic's Review

  1. Quality
  2. Really Great 4.5

Now, there’s no question that wit animated movies, DC usually is where to go. I mean, just last year we had Green Lantern: First Flight, Superman: Doomsday, and Batman Gotham Knight, not to mention others, like the 1993 classic Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (one of my favourite movies ever). However, I am, and always will be, a Marvel Comics guy. I mean sure, DC has some great heroes like Batman (one of my favourites) and the Flash (another favourite of mine), as well as other cool heroes like Nightwing and Booster Gold. But Marvel has easily most of my favourtes, like Spiderman, Daredevil, X-Men, Blade, Fantastic Four, the Punisher, and the very awesome Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth. However with DC kicking ass in the animated film department, is this year’s animated double-feature Hulk Vs…, featuring Hulk Vs. Wolverine and Hulk Vs. Thor, good enough to fire back at DC? Hot diggity damn yeah, it is!

Of the two films, Hulk Vs. Wolverine is by far the best. Not only is Wolverine the main character, but the plot is great, the animation is superb, and the voice acting is phenominal. Plus, freaking DEADPOOL is in it! Now I love Wolverine and everything, but I likr Deadpool so much more, and my god, is he awesome in this! With Ryan Reynolds starring as him in the Deadpool movie due to be released in 2011 (which I’m personally looking forward to more than the Green Lanteen movie, also starring Reynolds), this film certainly is enough to contain us until then!

However, what really drags the movie down is the second feature, Hulk Vs Thor. This one is really what stopped the movie from getting a perfect score. Unlike Wolverine, the lot is rather weak, as it’s mainly just Hulk rampaging through Valhalla for 90 minutes. Plus te fact that Tor is a kinda bland hero really doesn’t help it.

  3. Really Great 4.5

The voice acting in Hulk Vs Wolverine is awesome. The man who plays the voice of Wolverine does a great job, as well as the dude who played Bruce Banner/ The Hulk. However, the real star of the film is Nolan North as Deadpool. This guy is freaking HILARIOUSE! He has the voice down really well, as well as the smart aleck attitude that makes Deadpool so awesome. Plus the guy has incredible range, as he also plays the voice of Cyclops in Wolverine and the X-Men, and Cyclops is almost the complete opposite of Deadpool in terms of personality. Although he’s not as good a voice actor as Kevin Conroy (Batman/Bruce Wayne in the Animated Series and several other shows), who is in my opinion the greatest voice actor of all time, North is still phenominal and he does a superb job here.

However, the voice acting in Hulk Vs Thor is kinda weak, and just really bland, especially compared to Nolan North’s charismatic voice in Wolverine.

  4. Male Stars Perfect 5.0
  5. Female Stars Really Great 4.5
  6. Female Costars Really Great 4.5
  7. Male Costars Really Great 4.5
  8. Perfect 5.0

The animation is freaking spectacular, and it really amplifies Hulk Vs Wolverine, and is really the saving grace of Hulk Vs Thor. Very top notch animation.

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0
  10. Play Perfect 5.0
  11. Music Perfect 5.0
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 1.9

Kinda edgy, porobabely should hav a parental advisory.

  15. Sex Innocent 1.3

Hardly any sexual themes at all.

  16. Violence Fierce 2.3

Pretty violent, though nothing R rated. Deadpool gets his hand sliced off by Wolverine, and there’s a scene where he’s reattaching the arm slab back to his body, plus lots of gunfire and sword fighting, but not incredibley gross.

  17. Rudeness Salty 2.1

Some “hells” get thrown around along with an “ass” here or ther, but nothng too bad.

  18. Fantasy 5.0

Wolverine can regenerate wounds and has metal claws that come from his kuckles. The Hulk turns into a raging green behemoth when he gets angry. Deadpool is an insane mercinary who can regenerate wounds and knows he’s a comic book character. Thor’s a F*cking THUNDER GOD. I think that says enough.

  19. Circumstantial Fantasy 5.0
  20. Biological Fantasy 5.0
  21. Physical Fantasy 5.0
