Perfect 5.0
Sam Raimi has extablished himself himself as one of the most respected directors in Hollywood with his work on the Spider Man trilology. Whats sad is that people forget about where it all began. Sam Raimi was born to direct horror, and films like The Evil Dead prove it.
The story centers on a group of friends as they spend the night in a cabin and discover a strange book and some taped recordings. After opening the book and listening to the tapes, crazy things begin to take place on in that one crazy night. Trees come alive, people get posessed, and there’s no stopping it because the evil spirit won’t let them leave the cabin.
The Evil Dead throws in lots of humor and gore to keep the average horror lover entertained. Raimi is a true master of the genre and I am looking forward to what he gives us in the future.

The acting is great, especially considering the cast is mostly comprised of unknowns. And one of those unknowns in particular happens to be the B-Movie king himself, Bruce Campbell. Campbell plays the now famous character, Ash. And yes, Ash is short for Ashley, but don’t give him hell about it. YOU DON’T F*** WITH ASH!!

The visuals are extremely inventive. I love the prosthetics and make up. The score is very chilling and is destined to send scares up your spine.

This is probably in the top 3 of the most violent films I’ve ever seen. We are talkin’ all types of kills here, people. There’s also lots of sexual innuendos, so make sure the kids aren’t in the room.
