Pretty Bad 1.5
A romantic drama that tries to be funny? Yeah, I thought so — nothing but confusion ensues as you are waiting to laugh yet also not impacted deeply enough to get the drama either. “Love Happens” is a movie with an identity crisis that even the dynamic duo of Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston couldn’t fix. Throw in a plot that is so predictable that you can head out to the candy-counter without feeling like you missed anything, and the result is a resounding “ho hum.” Ok, maybe I’m being a tad negative, but really folks — wait until it comes out on DVD. Something tells me it won’t be long.

OK 2.5
Jennifer Aniston relies on her tried and true beautiful-and-quirky mannerisms to keep your attention, and Aaron Eckhart gets by on charmingly good looks and a decent writer. Martin Sheen seems a bit out of place, but is probably the only one of the bunch that manages to pull off true drama.

Pretty Bad 1.5
I’ve mostly said it all in the summary, but I do have to give credit to Brandon Camp for knowing what romance-movie formulas to use and when. Its too bad that he was a bit misguided over the humor vs. drama thing.
