John A Massie's Review

Created Sep 11, 2007 01:39AM PST • Edited Sep 11, 2007 01:39AM PST

  1. Quality
  2. Very Good 3.5

In terms of Post-Tarantino crime films this is pretty good but its built up a bit of hype over the years that probably should have gone to other films like The Way of The Gun. Definantly worth a look if you like this sort of thing.

  3. OK 2.5

Didn’t really have any complaints but nothing that stuck out as noteworthy either.

  4. Male Stars OK 2.5
  5. Female Stars OK 2.5
  6. Female Costars OK 2.5
  7. Male Costars OK 2.5
  8. Great 4.0
  9. Direction Great 4.0
  10. Play Great 4.0
  11. Music Great 4.0
  12. Visuals Great 4.0
  13. Content
  14. Horrid 4.0

Its pretty violent but the only thing that offended me was Willem Dafoe’s gay bashing.

  15. Sex Lewd 4.0
  16. Violence Savage 4.0
  17. Rudeness Nasty 4.0
  18. Surreal 3.0

Its grounded in reality but is sort of a metaphor for the directors beliefs. The gunfights could happen but are probably best described as OTT.

  19. Circumstantial Surreal 3.0
  20. Biological Surreal 3.0
  21. Physical Surreal 3.0

Regarding jasonhurwitz’s Review
“More f-bombs were dropped in this movie than in the last 8 wars combined.” Good one.
