Oh man, here we go. Let me start by saying that i am really dissapointed by this entry in the Narnia films… Of course, as with any sequel of a major box-office smash, expectations are rarelly met (a few exceptions of course…Empire Strikes Back, X-MEN 2 ect…) but this time i think they missed the mark.
First thing that really annoyed me was the way the 4 main characters (kids) were directed…after every scene you almost expected to break to a commercial (with the slow pan from 1 kid to the other looking at each other in slow-mo…please, enough already).
No real sense of danger or magic that made the first movie so special. Yeah, the effects are good but we’ve seen all of them in the first movie so, no surprise here.
The kick really comes at about 90 minutes into the film and by then you’re ready to throw in the towel. Another that bugged me big time is the fact that Susan (the archer) must have used 200 arrows and she still had the same 5 or 6 ones on her back (magic???).
Thank god for the mices and the dwarfs, the comic relief of the movie…and better actors!
Well, kids might like it but Indy’s in town this week so, bye-bye Caspian… -
