  1. Quality
  2. Pretty Bad 1.5

Sadly, this is one of those movies that disappoints from start to finish. And you don’t want to look at the DVD box again and see Wes Cravens name attached to it but nonetheless it is. However, the original idea for the movie concerning spirits/poltergeists moving through technology is good to the extent that we are so reliant on technology these days that it would utterly throw us a curveball if it happened. But the execution of this script just dies straight away, and it doesn’t even stand in the “So bad it’s good” category whatsoever.

  3. Bad 1.0

I never would’ve thrown “veronica mars” into this film plot if I were to picture a cast. She never struck me as the type with the ability to play scared convincingly and how true it was. What is it about girls in these films? They find out someone close to them has died, they barely grieve and within 24 hours they have forgotten about it and are moving on…film imitating life is lacklustre here! The acting from Kristin Bell and everyone else is not worth mentioning.

  4. Male Stars Bad 1.0
  5. Female Stars Bad 1.0
  6. Female Costars Bad 1.0
  7. Male Costars Bad 1.0
  8. Barely OK 2.0

Overall production was okay, nearly every film that makes it to the silver screen these days has to look good so as long as this film hit the cinema, there shouldn’t have been any problems. Some visual effects within the film itself looked good, but were pulled down by the plot once again.

  9. Direction Barely OK 2.0
  10. Play Barely OK 2.0
  11. Music Barely OK 2.0
  12. Visuals Barely OK 2.0
  13. Content
  14. Risqué 2.1

Nothing to write home about. Pulse tries desperately to use the power of imagination rather like “Sixth Sense” or “Signs” instead of gory violence, but fails miserably. It shows us too much so we aren’t really left wondering anything, we know exactly what is going on, we just don’t know how they plan on stopping it…yet. Rudeness isn’t really a problem, suprising since they are college students!

  15. Sex Titillating 2.1
  16. Violence Fierce 2.1
  17. Rudeness Salty 2.1
  18. Glib 1.8

Completely fake, they use the internet and phones etc to portray this murderous spirit. And although people out these sometimes petition against the amounts of technology we use, I’m sure they even know that this sort of thing is too unbelievable! It’s rather like “One missed call”, which served as an equally appauling film.

  19. Circumstantial Glib 1.8
  20. Biological Glib 1.8
  21. Physical Glib 1.8
