Wick's Review

Created May 02, 2008 12:11AM PST • Edited Jul 30, 2017 02:01PM PST

  1. Quality
  2. Pretty Bad 1.5

Great concept, strong cast, crummy movie. I’m probably not part of this movie’s target market, though I loved Thelma & Louise. But I found Mad Money silly and boring. Even as an airplane movie, it barely passed the time.

  3. Barely OK 2.0

Diane Keaton and Ted Danson command attention, but the rest of the cast ranged from dull to goofy. For instance, Katie Holmes (Mrs. Tom Cruise, for those living on Planet Murgatroid) just can’t quite sell the spacey rock-n-roll chick act, while Adam Rothenberg doesn’t come close to selling her dumb-as-a-doorstop husband.

  4. Male Stars Barely OK 2.0
  5. Female Stars Barely OK 2.0
  6. Female Costars Barely OK 2.0
  7. Male Costars Barely OK 2.0
  8. Pretty Bad 1.5

Callie Khouri, justly famous for writing and producing the great Thelma & Louise, proves herself no great director with Mad Money.

  9. Direction Barely OK 2.0

Competently directed by Callie Kouri, faint praise indeed.

  10. Play Pretty Awful 0.5
  11. Music Barely OK 2.0
  12. Visuals Good 3.0

The inner workings of the Federal Reserve money recycling facility were pretty cool to see.

  13. Content
  14. Tame 1.3
  15. Sex Innocent 1.3
  16. Violence Gentle 1.3
  17. Rudeness Polite 1.3
  18. Glib 1.2

Silly from the get-go, as Diane Keaton and Ted Danson ride his year long unemployment to the edge of disaster, while sitting pretty in a huge house that is still being cleaned by a maid they can’t pay. Hollywood logic?

  19. Circumstantial Glib 1.7
  20. Biological Natural 1.0
  21. Physical Natural 1.0

Regarding Wick’s Review
Haha, I still can not believe Holmes chose to do this instead of Dark Knight. Don’t worry, Katie, this’ll surely become a classic**cough**not**cough**
