Hot Fuzz is a follow up from the guys who did Shaun of the Dead and one of the few movies of its kind to surpass the originals like-ability. The chemistry between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is of course stellar (being that they are partners) and the twist about 2/3 through the movie is a good one. Many of the scenes in the movie are overly "cartoonish" but on purpose. The feel of the film is not only action but also parody as the duo go through most subtle "buddy cop" cliches and even point out they are doing so on many occasions. The film does go on a littl… |

America. My theory is that Forrest Gump serves as personification of the early baby boomers, i.e. of the America of that era. Naive, idealistic, rambunctious, Forrest's life functions as allegory for the cultural journey of the generation that came of age during the 60s. Whether you buy that or not, this wonderfully charming movie – by turns funny and moving – showcases a classic Tom Hanks performance from his mid-90s heyday as The Biggest Movie Star In The World. |

Silence of the Lambs set the standard for the psychological crime thriller. As Hanibal, Anthony Hopkins does 'evil' like nobody else, and if that wasn't enough, Jodie Foster and her law enforcement brood need to find and deal with Hanibal's sick protege. This movie deserved all of the Oscars that it received. |
