in short this was the best 'blockbuster' style flic i've seen in years.The key is the balance struck between scale and detail. here you have Micheal Bay at his best with the larger then life(literally) characters and set pieces but always tempered(most likely due to spielberg's input) with lighter moments of heart and, most suprisingly of all, genuine humor. because of the care taken by both Bay and Spielberg the overall story about a boy buying his first car and trying to get the girl of his dreams to notice is never over shadowed by the stunning special effec… |

Find it nigh impossible to find a fault with this sensational film. it looks, sounds and feels fantastically surreal. from start to finish its the most unique, engaging, heartbreaking and thrilling film you will see. Subtitled because its a spanish film set in 1944 but if you are not dead set against the idea of having to 'read' and watch simultaneously you'll love this. even if you are dead set against subtitled films, take a chance on this one, you wont be disappointed. This movie's blazing power and brilliance has been somewhat diminished in social circles because you cant watch an episode of 'Cribs' without seeing some overpaid undertalented Z-list celebrity showing of there multiple posters of Scarface and/or its driving force Antonio Montana(Pacino). If you can ignore that(and dont mind crazy columbians weilding chainsaw's, drug use that makes Pulp Fiction look like it was written by Jane Austen and the occasionally dodgy 'latino' accent) you are/or already have been in for a treat.
