Spectre
Very Good 83 Points 2015

The tangled web of deception surrounding James Bond reaches its nexus in Spectre, a more than serviceable installment in the Blond Bond Era. Daniel Craig’s 007 is once again a stone-cold assassin, reprising the gritty killer persona he established in Casino Royale and has doggedly pursued in …

Spy
Barely OK 83 Points 2015

Spy’s spinster-styled spoof of James Bond never comes off the hook. It may have worked in a theater with gals all around. But it sure as hell didn’t work 40,000’ over the Atlantic. I’m hardly the target demographic, but only counted three laughs – meager ones at that. When the funnies don’t com…

The Man from U....
Great 17 Points 2015

Loved the 1960’s Italian Immersion that surrounded this traditional spy tale. Add to that some cool-handed dry humor and you’re good for some consistent LOLs, even if the aesthetics were a little over done. I’m predicting a sequel, and yes, I’ll go.

The Man Who Kne...
Great 66 Points 1934

Though more than a little dated, the original Man Who Knew Too Much remains a must see for fans of spy thrillers and classic filmcraft. Dryer than a vermouth-free martini, perfectly shot in high contrast B&W and crafted in such accomplished fashion that Hitch’s nickname – The Master – could h…
