The film is more worried about being cool than plot or characters but it works for what it is. Probably would be better if viewed while intocicated.

I’m a big fan of mob flicks, but this movie didn’t impress me as much as many others. It is very entertaining, the cast can’t be beat, and the action keeps the movie moving along. However, Costner’s role was a bit cheesy (was Elliot Ness cheesy too?), and I would have liked to see more from DeNiro
