Very Good 3.5
The story of Michiel de Ruyter, a famous Dutch admiral, who led the country through the Anglo-Dutch wars of the 17th century. This subtitled water-borne marvel is plenty of fun to watch for obscure history buffs and fans of nautical history. The wars were complex affairs, that drew in France, Germany, and even the threat of civil war between the Orangists and the Republicans. For me, it came down to cool old warships and lots of great coordinated sailing, cannons and eventual mayhem.
