United 93 takes place the day a tragedy occurred, September 11, 2001. It seems like a normal day to everyone. No one has any idea how big of an impact this day will have. At first everything goes as scheduled through the airlines. However, those who monitor the airplanes do become suspicious. They realize that there could be a possible hijacking situation on one of the planes. People are cautioned by this, but it is surprising to them since this hasn’t happened for 40 years. Soon they find out that several of the planes are in fact being hijacked. The workers try to do what they can to find out more information so they can stop the hijackings from occurring. Things get even more intense when these workers see two of these planes crash in to the World Trade Center one after another. One of the workers hears screams coming from the plane, but besides that they have no contact with them. There is no response from anyone on the flight United 93. At this time no planes are permitted to be in the air. All flights have been cancelled and all flights that were already in the air have been sent back to where the flight began at. Then there is an explosion at the pentagon. They realize that flight 93 is also headed towards Washington D.C., but the monitors aren’t able to do too much at this point to stop it.
On United 93, the terrorists have taken over. Both the pilots have been killed, a stewardess was attacked as well as a passenger who has been stabbed. All the passengers and stewardesses are terrified. They are fearing desperately for their lives and what will happen. Many people call family and others close to them to tell them that they love them. They know that they are going to die. However, they don’t want to just sit around and wait for their death. One of the passengers was a pilot. They figure there are more of them than terrorists, so they should attack them and try to gain control of the plane. They know that even if they can’t land the plane safely, they will end up saving many lives by not having it crashing at the terrorist’s target.

  3. Really Great 4.5

The acting in this was crucial to making this movie what it was and the actors rose to the challenge. Watching this felt so real and it was such an emotional experience. It is hard to even grasp what that situation would be like; to know that you are going to be burned to death in an explosion, that there is nothing you can do about it, and many other innocent people could suffer this same horrible death because of the plane that you are on.

United 93 showed how everyone was in complete crisis. Seeing this tension from the airline monitors was quite frightening. You saw them trying their hardest to prevent the targets from being a success. As the movie progressed and the planes started to destruct, they seemed more and more helpless. It was just scary seeing how unprepared this nation was. There is so much terror in the thought and the acting, writing, and wonderful direction come together to show the audience with accuracy and great depth how horrid the events of 9/11 really were.

  14. Sordid 3.5

The crashing of the planes is the most phsyically violent part of the film. The terrorists taking charge and showing aggression cause a lot of damage themselves, killing innocent people before they even get to the plane crash, which killed even more lives. The most uncomfortable part though was the situation especially on flight 93. To put yourself in that situation is just horrifying.

  18. Natural 1.0

No one can be sure of what the fourth terrorist flight on 9/11 was like, but this movie seems to be as accurate as anyone could get it. It shows what everyone was going through that day and the pain that was caused. United 93 is an important movie not just because it was based on a true story, but because of how much It affected so many people. It shows one of the most drastically damaging days in United States history. Thousands were killed in the attacks as well including many firefighters, paramedics, and police officers. To this day those who worked on ground zero in all the smoke and ashes are still being harmed by damage to their lungs. Not to mention jobs that were lost and emotional damage that was done to everyone who knew someone that was harmed. It had an effect on everyone, especially all Americans though. It brought fear upon so many people and another unfortunate side affect was racism it formed towards those who live in middle-eastern countries. It is hard to really describe all the pain it caused, but I really don’t have to. Anyone who is reading this already knows.
