Very Good 3.5
The Kick-Ass ties are apparent in Kingsman: This not-so-stiff upper lip spy flick was 50% Bond, 45% Bourne, and 5% Austin Powers (maybe a tad Get Smart?). The save-the-world-from-the-evil-meglomaniac was predictable but made fun by the unexpected cheekiness and high-tech outlandishness delivered with an understated humor. I’ll remember the Samuel L Jackson lisp for a long time, and I loved seeing Colin Firth and Michael Caine together. Mark Strong fit the cast well and unknown Taron Egerton held up to the leading role nicely.
