Great 4.0
David O’Russell continues with the BiPolar thread with American Hustle – which is somewhat of a whirlwind of inexplicable activity – loosely modeling itself after the famous Abscam stings in the late 70’s in Long Island. The greatness of this film lies in its cast: Tremendous performances from Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Jennifer Lawrence, among good performances from Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., and Robert DeNiro. As I mentioned, some of what happens makes no sense, but somehow it doesn’t really matter. You just get caught up in this craziness of a story – and when it all ends, you might find yourself shaking your head and saying to yourself (as I did), wow, that was great!

Really Great 4.5
Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence take the cake, they really do. Between the former’s in your face female dominance, and the latter’s hot-mess-ness – all I could say was ‘wow’.
