Good 3.0
Albert Nobbs was certainly an interesting character study, but unfortunately it wasn’t a very interesting Character. Sure, Glenn Close and cast do a stellar job at portraying their late 19th century Irish personas. Glenn in particular has to do some acting gymnastics to come across as a male butler. Did it work? Umm, sort of. I’d say that if you are a fan of Downton Abbey style period pieces, Nobbs will entertain. Otherwise, well I guess it is impressive watching Close transform herself.

Very Good 3.5
Besides Close, you will enjoy seeing a young Mia Wasikowska as a flirty maid and Maria Doyle Kennedy as Close’s male-impersonating friend who seems to have her sh*t more together than Nobbs.
