Great 4.0
The Sound of Music is one of those iconic films that everyone should see. Perhaps for some, it will entail some suffering through 60’s era cliches and life-glossed-over portrayals, but it does entertain. Julie Andrews was in her prime and Christopher Plummer is the happiest you’ll ever see of him. The scenery is fantastic, the music quite engaging, and the story actually is dramatic and suspenseful enough to hold you. I’ve seen SoM as a kid, then recently watched it during a trip to southern Germany. It burned the song Edelweiss in to my brain for several days, wishing I had a pair of Lederhosen and a Swiss alpine horn along with the beer I was quaffing.
