OK 2.5
Tell the truth – you like to see fights at hockey games, right? If so, Goon is for you. This tongue-in-cheek hockey film is primarily an understated comedy that follows the nicest bouncer you’ll ever meet and his grand entrance to the one professional sport that appreciates a good brawler: hockey. Ok, so the acting isn’t all that great, but it sure was a fun film and a great venue to satisfy any testosterone laden desire to see a foul-mouthed, beat-em-up, comedy set in the great white North’s hockey development league circuit.

Good 3.0
Sean Scott is the man – he does well as the guy with a few-cards-less-than-a-deck dude who found his calling as a hockey goon. A position I never knew was so appreciated.
Jay Baruchel – who it turns out is from Ottawa, is excellent at the foul mouthed side kick who promotes his buddy’s career.
Liev Schreiber – which we saw more of the old pro goon with sage advice
Alison Pil – Ms. “you make me want to stop sleeping with a bunch of guys†– not too memorable, but she had great lines.
Love Eugene Levy – who served well as Sean’s troubled dad
Kim Coats – more famous now in Son’s of Anarchy is decent as the bruising coach
