  1. Quality
  2. OK 2.5

Starts out with a big splash (pun intended) of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Big waves, lots of confusion, and a tremendous amount of human suffering. If this weren’t billed as a true story, I would have dismissed what happened next as too circumstantial and fabricated. The movie quickly evolves into nonstop drama, and though I can tell from many positive reviews that people loved this – I found it made watching much of the movie as tortuous as living through the actual tsunami.

  3. Very Good 3.5

Naomi Watts is a drama machine. Major kudos to her acting in this
Ewan McGregor is more than decent – but he looks minor compared to Naomi
Tom Holland is my pick for the film – he suffers from seeming a bit too adult in spots, but otherwise does a great job as the kid with a will to survive.

  4. Male Stars Very Good 3.5
  5. Female Stars Very Good 3.5
  6. Female Costars Very Good 3.5
  7. Male Costars Very Good 3.5

  17. Rudeness Salty 1.7

Regarding BrianSez’s Review
Useful review Bri. I was tempted to see this, but was concerned it might be “as tortuous as living through the actual tsunami.” Which it was, apparently.
