Good 3.0
Oliver Stone presents us with solid entertainment in this revenge-action-crime film. Savages takes the highnamic duo of Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Taylor Johnson – who are doing just fine with their mj business and navy seal freinds. But no, the Mexican drug cartels, led by favorites Benicio Del Toro and Selma Hayek want some action. The resulting antics are messy, don’t quite add up logically, but are entertaining nonetheless. After all, everyone likes revenge flicks; right?

OK 2.5
Taylor Kitsch is pretty good as the marines-hardened enforcer who is the ying to Aaron Taylor Johnson’s yang. Aaron is more like a young Woody Harrelson with a granola flair. The object of their affection, and protection, is Blake Lively, who does only slightly better than just providing eye candy.
Selma Hayek is supposed to be a tough bad-ass, but it never really works well.
My pick for the film is Benicio Del Toro – who makes one bad-ass cartel lieutenant and shows a real down in the barrio toughness.
