Good 3.0
I saw this on a list of 100 worst movies of all time and had to defend it. Lisa Kudrow plays a Jewish American Princess who is forced to take over a struggling rap label and finds out not only does she have a knack for business but is a pretty fair rapper as well.
It’s too easy to hate this movie and I’ll give you several reasons not too. First of all the screenplay is by Paul Rudnick. One scene is a spoof of that tired old montage of newspaper headlines we’ve seen since 1933(or whatever) after Marci gets caught in a compromising position with a rapper. Of course the headline on the Yiddish paper is “Shonda” If you don’t know what it means, it’s “shame” and it would be a shame of true fans of comedy don’t at least watch it once.
Two other reasons. Richard Benjamin directed one of my favorite movies “My Favorite Year”. He never quite had the career he should have but he still has a nice light touch.
Last but not least is Lisa Kudrow, who is the only former cast member of “Friends” who can actually act. She is hilarious.

Some risque stuff for easily offended people but pretty tame compared to a lot of the edgier comedy these days.

Let’s face it. Marci X would never happen in real life but you could say that about most reality shows. So there.
