Great 4.0
How did I miss seeing Ronin for so long? DeNiro is really great as an ex intelligence agent part of an elite spook-squad for hire and sent on a hunt for something everyone seems to want. Plenty of tension, action, shooting without gratuitous blood, some amazing car chases in crowded European streets (they must have had one heck of a crash budget), and an excellent double-crossing/double-twisting plot. If you are an action thriller fan, this movie will not let you down.

Very Good 3.5
DeNiro is a bit gruff in this movie, but as the sole USA spook on the international crowd, he’s fun to watch with his tough Bronx attitude: “I never enter a place I don’t know how to leave.†Indeed
Jean Reno is definitely a leader of this cast with his macho calmness and authority.
Natascha McElhone – cute, tough, and an Irish character – a combination that works extremely well.
Sean Bean – who I guess is quite the notable in England, makes it apparent why. He fits right in to this action flick.
Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd – a recognizable presence in newer films like ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, ‘Thor’, and ‘The Avengers’ – he does great, perhaps even better in this earlier role as an incredibly nervous spook.
Jonathan Pryce is also very recognizable from lots of quality roles. Ronin is just another.
