Great 4.0
Charleze theron plays an unstable divorcee who we quickly see represents everything that is wrong with superficial living. Miss popular goes back to her hometown and shamelessly tries to steal back her happily married ex boyfriend. The film features the antagonistic relationship she sparks with Patton Oswalt, which is the source of plenty of lol moments as he rips in to her. The best part of the movie comes towards the end as the drama really kicks in and we really see some good stuff from the actors.

Really Great 4.5
Charleze Theron, if nothing else, is versatile. Just in the last few years I’ve seen her in Snow White and the Huntsman, Prometheus, and now Young Adult – where her part as a divorced gal in search of her ex – is really good. Slovenly living, in to old mix-tapes, slipping in to loser-dom. And her act only gets better as the movie goes on. The more dramatic, the better. It may seem contrived at first, but stick with it. Bravo!
Patton Oswalt was lucky to be able to showcase more than just his comedy. This movie proves there is a lot more to this guy.
Patrick Wilson – nothing to special about his performance. He’s basically along for the ride, despite being the object of Charleze’s desires.
