OK 2.5
Why do I always fall for these ho-hum roman-era action movies? ‘The Eagle’ is about a son searching for a lost emblem from his Father’s lost legion in Britain. Unfortunately the movie felt more like war movie porn – significant story at all, just straight in to almost meaningless action. Sure, It has your epic style journey, lots of swordplay and medieval action, but it couldn’t escape the fact that the story wasn’t believable and parts of the film dragged on for too long. What’s worse is that the ending seemed a bit preposterous, even amidst an unlikely story.

Good 3.0
Channing Tatum wasn’t bad given what he had to work with. he was a sufficiently stoic strong and silent fighter who seems natural in a leadership role. His pairing with Jamie Bell was good, and Jamie turns out to be a reasonably decent actor as well. Donald Sutherland could have been utilized much, much more.
