   Very Good 3.5

   Written and directed by Cameron Crowe, PJ-Twenty narrates a 20 year history of Pearl Jam. You can look up the chronology of the band in Wikipedia, so I’ll focus on some what I feel are the gems brought out by this movie: The beginnings of Seattle music scene of the late 80’s and early 90’s- and interviews with all the greats from that era, and the incredibly interesting phenomena of all the bands being with each other and supporting each other like one big family. Especially the collaboration with Chris Cornell on Temple of the Dog. Then there was there meteoric rise in popularity – accusations by Kurt Cobain as selling out, but actually quite the opposite – highlighted by the fight with Ticketmaster over unfair monopoly and price gauging. Then on to the last 10 years, filled with great concert footage and more introspective interviews. This was a really entertaining look at an iconic band that any rock fan shouldn’t miss. And the footage/music is killer.

   These guys have staying power; Eddie Vedder is an endless well of deep emotion and meaning through his singing – and it shows.
