Perfect 5.0
Delightful bio of golden producer Robert Evans, the man behind The Godfather, Chinatown, Marathon Man, Urban Cowboy, Sliver & How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – to name some from immortal to shameless. Picked as a movie star himself, while lounging around the Beverly Hills Hotel pool no less, Evans married Ali McGraw in the full flush of her Love Story superstardom. His wifey and pals Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman & Henry Kissinger are a tiny sampling of the celebs who grace The Kid Stays in the Picture.
Indeed, KSP’s credits are a roll call from wild Hollywood’s mid-20th Century breakout years. Deneuve, Hemingway, McQueen, Polanski, Farrow, Sinatra & Newman comprise not even half the credits, making this a definitive Hollywood docupic.
Roberts Evans narrates his own legend in the voice-over. Yes, the ultimate print-the-legend kind of guy narrates his own legend. That’s Production with a capital P.
Those who lived through any of this triumphant era will be boggled by the backstage peccadilloes of our Hollywood heroes. Those with a taste for legendary Tinseltown tales tantalizingly told will be well sated.

Perfect 5.0
Robert Evans ran Paramount, taking it from worst to first. The cast of this picture, however, is like MGM’s “more stars than there are in heaven.”
