OK 2.5
Constant name dropping and a self-serving biography about rock photographer Robert Knight’s pursuit of great guitarists is a little off-putting at times, but I’ll have to admit seeing footage and hearing stories of some of rock’s greats was darn interesting. Just some of the names we are talking about: Jeff Beck, Slash, ZZ Top, Def Leopard, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Jimi Hendrx, Zappa, BB King, Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Slash, Steve Vai, Santanna, and lots more.
The movie spends quite a bit of time reminiscing, but then turns in to a story about Robert’s search for the next great guitarist. This second half of the movie is intriguing, but a little tiresome at times when it is repeated over and over again about how Robert is so great and clairvoyant about up and coming guitarists, as well as the whole “I’m doing it all for money for my family†shtick.
The saving graces of the film was the interesting old stories, as well as the discovery of some pretty intense unknowns: Sick Puppies and Tyler Dow Bryant – the latter who is easily compared to the great Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Good 3.0
Robert is a character – but to clarify, this is not an act.
