Good 3.0
Lincoln invokes feelings of a made-for-TV series as it presents us with Matthew McConaughey as the smooth lawyer Mick Haller. The movie title promotes the fact that Haller does business out of a Lincoln – but that’s just a minor novelty for a good old fashioned crime/law thriller with a nice intensity build-up, some decent twists, and character drama along the way. Lincoln didn’t top my charts, but it was solid entertainment.

Good 3.0
McConaughey does surprisingly well with his southern charm and smooth operator shtick. An all around good performance. I was less impressed with Marisa Tomei, whom I always like to see, but she didn’t seem to add a lot to the story – except raise the question: why were her and Haller divorced? I’m also a big William Macy fan – a solid performance as McConaughey’s side kick. And then there was the smug faced Ryan Phillipe as the bad-boy – another solid performance.

OK 2.5
I’m really curious to see if they try to make some sort of TV show out of this. The movie reeked of “made for TVâ€. Unfortunately, I don’t go to the movies for a made for TV feeling, so what only earns a “Good†on the big screen likely would have earned a “very good†on the boob-tube.
