    Cage does Grindhouse.

Nicholas Cage has shown us over the last ten years that he’ll take any role. He doesn’t care if it’ll kill his career, he does it all for the cash. His career has come close to death on a few occasions, but he has enough charisma and good acting chops to bounce back from it. Whether he’s in something as crappy as Ghost Rider, something as unintentionally funny as The Wicker Man remake, or something as good as Adaptation, Cage has found himself along the lines of fellow paycheck kings Christopher Walken and Samuel Jackson. Drive Angry 3D proves to be a fun Grindhouse flick with huge flaws, but still show’s its audience a kick-ass time!

Cage plays Milton, an ex-con whose come back from hell to avenge the death of his daughter and take back her baby girl from an evil cult. He takes young waitress Piper along for the ride as he chases this cult down whilst outrunning clueless cops and the Devil’s accountant (William Fichter). The plot’s as simple as simple can be.

The acting is alright but nothing truely special. Cage does fine in his role considering he’s working with a cheesey script. It’s Nicholas Cage at his Nicholas Cagiest. It’s Nicholas Cage doing the best Nicholas Cage impersonation ever. The girl playing Piper isn’t exactly “memorable” but she doesn’t do completely horrible. The best actor is easily William Fichter. He’s hilarious in his over-the-top yet still subtle role as the Accountant.

The script is intentionally cheesey. This is a grindhouse movie in every sense of the word. The film is just plain stupid but still proves to be a fun time. The visuals are jaw dropping or spectacular but is still fun to watch, thanks to the action sequences.

Overall, Drive Angry 3D is a fun time if you just want to kick back. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and is fun entertainment for the drive-in crowd.
