Barely OK 2.0
The sorcerer’s apprentice? More like Harry Potter’s apprentice – or more accurately – the magical British fable’s weak American imitation. Hollywood heavies Bruckheimer, Turtletaub and Cage occasionally produce cheerfully entertaining hokum. This isn’t one of those times.
As an airplane movie, OK. Not trapped in a flying metal tube? Pass.

OK 2.5
Performed by a cast of lesser lights and/or lesser performances:
- Lesser Nic Cage, if there is such a thing.
- Jay Baruchel, the lesser Shia LaBeouf.
- Lesser Alfred Molina, sadly.
- Lesser Monica Bellucci, simply because she’s not on screen enough. More of her please. Where’s a sorcerer when you need one?

Barely OK 2.0
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Jon Turtletaub and exec producer/star Nic Cage can’t recapture the lighthearted magic they bottled in National Treasure and National Treasure: The Book of Secrets. These guys don’t give up however. They just keep on coming. Thus this failed Hollywood concoction will fade away when their next machine production premieres. No sorcery required.
